Australia Women took a major step toward securing a Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 semifinal berth after a commanding 10-wicket victory over Bangladesh Women in Visakhapatnam on Thursday. Skipper Alyssa Healy continued her superb form, smashing her second consecutive century, while opener Phoebe Litchfield provided strong support in a flawless run chase.
After being asked to bowl first, the Australia Women’s cricket team restricted Bangladesh to 198/9 before Healy (113* off 77 balls) and Litchfield (84* off 72 balls) chased down the target in just 24.5 overs. This clinical win underlined Australia’s dominance in the tournament and put them one step closer to the knockout stage.
Healy, who recently returned to form with a record-breaking 142-run knock, looked unstoppable once again. She struck 20 boundaries during her innings, while Litchfield added 12 fours and a six. The duo’s aggressive batting left the Bangladeshi bowlers helpless as they raced toward victory.
Litchfield sealed the game in style by hitting Fariha Trisna for back-to-back boundaries, wrapping up the chase before the 25th over mark.
Earlier, Bangladesh had opted to bat first and made a steady start through Rubya Haider and Shobana Mostary, who contributed the bulk of the runs. Mostary’s unbeaten 66 off 80 balls (9 fours) was the highlight of the innings and marked the highest individual score by a Bangladeshi batter against Australia in women’s cricket.
Despite Mostary’s efforts, Bangladesh struggled to maintain momentum as the Australian bowlers applied constant pressure. Haider scored a fluent 44 from 59 balls but was dismissed while attempting a slog sweep off Ashleigh Gardner.
Bangladesh’s middle order failed to capitalize as Alana King, Annabel Sutherland, Tahlia McGrath, and Georgia Wareham took control. King (2/18), Sutherland (2/41), Gardner (2/49), and Wareham (2/22) shared eight wickets between them to dismantle the opposition.
With this win, the seven-time champions once again showcased why they remain the most formidable team in women’s cricket.
