Gautam Gambhir Indian Pitches discussions have intensified after India’s seven-wicket win over West Indies in the second Test. India head coach Gautam Gambhir called for more bounce and carry on home surfaces, emphasizing the need to make Indian wickets fairer for both batters and bowlers.
Following the 3-0 defeat to New Zealand last year, Gautam Gambhir and the team management have been advocating for a shift away from slow, turning tracks. The focus is now on preparing Indian pitches that encourage pace and movement while maintaining balance.
“I thought we could have had a better wicket here,” Gambhir said. “There needs to be something for fast bowlers as well. It’s okay if there isn’t much turn, but there must be carry. The lack of bounce was a concern, and going forward, we need improved Gautam Gambhir Indian Pitches to keep Test cricket alive.”
Gambhir also praised the West Indies for their resilience in the Delhi Test, acknowledging their ability to fight back in challenging conditions.
Meanwhile, Shubman Gill’s Test captaincy continues to impress after leading India to a 2-2 draw in England. Gambhir praised Gill’s leadership, saying, “He has earned his captaincy through hard work and attitude. The team has responded well under his guidance.”
As India prepares for their next series against Australia and later South Africa, Gambhir reiterated the importance of domestic cricket, including the Ranji Trophy, to ensure players remain match-fit and ready to perform on evolving Indian pitches.
